Words that sell

‘The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the same as the difference between lightning and a firefly’

Whether you're preparing an email newsletter, creating content for social media, writing text for a website, or working on a long article, it's important to ‘wrap’ your marketing strategies in the right words. Even if you need to fit all of your boss's wishes into a small ad block, skilful wording makes your message clear and memorable.

Halla Systems Co. Ltd suggests you to pay attention to the words that are sure to be noticed both in the headlines of your articles and in advertising texts. Words that evoke the same reaction in readers from different countries, with different mentalities and habits. But we ask you very much: don't manipulate words. Remember about reputation, which is built up over years and lost in one hour. If the client gets the opposite result, you will be considered a fraud.

Yes
Positivity, openness. It's all in the short ‘yes.’ The affirmation, the short one is catchy. It works well as a paragraph highlight within an article. ‘Yes,’ as a call to action (CTA) greatly increases clickability and increases the open rate of emails. ‘Yes, this will work...!’. ‘Yes, this is exactly that...!’.

Free
In his book Predictable Irrationality, Professor Dan Ariely writes that: ‘the word ‘free’ gives us such an emotional charge that we perceive what is offered as something far more valuable than it actually is.’

Getting something of value without cost, who doesn't want that? The word ‘free’ always gets attention in blogs, texts, emails and social media posts.

New
People are regularly looking for something new: new software, new things, new ways to make money, new suppliers. Even an incredulous and sophisticated buyer pays attention to the headline or subject line of an email with the word ‘new.’ But that word doesn't work on its own. And if your offer is not interesting and your product is not needed, no magic word will open your email or make them buy your product.

Instant
A word that promises immediate rewards. No matter how old we are, the desire to get results as quickly as possible, without difficult experimentation, is embedded in us from childhood. People love instant rewards, Halla System company managers point out. That's why downloadable information products sell like hotcakes.

But! Promising instant results, you have to be sure that your customers really get what they expect.

Proven
The word ‘proven’ is often associated with credibility and reliability. Customers are more willing to trust companies that emphasise proven methods and approaches. No one wants to waste time making assumptions or guesses. To attract attention, use the word ‘proven’ in headlines, adverts and text. ‘Proven techniques,’ “Proven solutions,” ’Proven results.’

Easy
Make a confusing or boring topic understandable to your target audience. Easy!!! This word always stands out, creates a sense of simplicity and accessibility, makes content more appealing and drives customers to action. It can be used in headlines, emphasising that your product or service will save time and effort.

The Secret
A word that arouses people's curiosity, makes them want to learn something new and increases audience engagement. Most of us want to know the secrets of success. Or discover the secret to winning combinations. Use the word ‘secret’ in your message headlines, in your text, and even in your call to action when you're introducing something new.

If
A small but powerful word. It creates an atmosphere of dialogue. It helps to describe conditional situations in a text and encourages reflection. By using ‘if’ you can ask questions. For example, the phrases ‘If you are interested, then...’ or ‘If you are looking for a solution, we are ready to help’ attract attention and encourage action.

Never
This word seems to have only a negative connotation. But it doesn't. It allows you to convey the main idea brightly and correctly. It gives the reader a feeling of certainty. Who among us doesn't want to know what you should never do to save money?  ‘It's never been easier to ...’. This word is used to remind us of something important. ‘Never forget ...’

Imagine
‘Imagine’ is one of those words that transports the reader to a whole new reality where everything seems possible. It creates a visual image and allows the audience to better understand and experience what the story is about. Phrases with the word ‘imagine’ help create an emotional connection with customers. ‘Imagine how easy it is to...’.

Convert
A conversion process with a known positive outcome. How do you go from point A (where something isn't working) to point B (where you're seeing better results)? A favourite word of bloggers and SEO experts has become used quite quickly in most areas of our business.

From words to deeds: partnership
In a world where competition is growing by the day, it's important to stand out. Words evoke emotion, build trust and inspire action.
